Collapse Under the Empire

I literally came across this band moments ago, and from just the intro's heard here, I had to find the album. Apparently they've been releasing music since 2008, but their latest album, Shoulders & Giants, is all I've yet to listen to. My next set of their music to hear will be from the split with Mooncake. Good 'ol European post rock (with a cinematic edge) is always something exciting to check out.

Mooncake is from Russia, and CUtE is from Hamburg(er) -- both bands are making me hungry.

Enjoy.

Talkdemonic

I went through my iTunes and came across this band which I mistakingly had listened to but a few times. Talkdemonic is such an amazing two-piece band made up of Kevin O'Conner and Lisa Molinaro from Portland, Oregon. Lisa's a violist (attractive at that), and Kevin does a mixture of drum beats with pre-recorded samples of whatever he feels like creating. I went through the two albums I have (Beat Romantic and Mutiny Sunshine) to find my favorite track, which is the above song. So powerful. I'd love to catch a live show soon -- too bad they're having a west coast/midwest tour. Until then, I'll have to deal with those live videos. (Don't hesitate to pick up any of their four LPs).

P.S. - Their latest album can be purchased from Isaac Brock's personal record label. You know, that guy from Modest Mouse.

The Pirate Ship Quintet

Last post for today. My roommate pulled out the 12" EP of The Pirate Ship Quintet to spin it and I immediately had to download the album. I attempted searching for the record to purchase, but I doubt there were too many pressings of it from 2008. However, I did see they were putting on the finishing touches toward a new album, so at least there's hope for something of theirs to possess on wax. This album has three tracks, clocking in at 30 minutes. Fantastic post-rock band from the UK.

TRMRS

I have to quickly discuss this band. TRMRS is amazing. I'm really enjoying this album, and I'll be enjoying it more once the test press and basic LP come in from Get Resurrected records. As for right now the mp3 format will have to soothe my ears. I believe they're playing SXSW which I'm hoping to attend during my spring break. You should go see them. You should go listen to them. Right now.

Alex Cuervo (Hex Dispensers)

For a while I've been getting into the garage rock/grunge/lo-fi genre, and of that style there are The Hex Dispensers being constantly played on my laptop. I finally did some more research and realized the lead singer, Alex Cuervo, has some solo material out that is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and download the album, and also find the 7" pressing of it!
